When applying for a passport, please be aware that you are not required to use or pay for any third-party passport services. The only fees associated with your application are those paid directly to the U.S. Department of State and to the township office. These fees are collected at the time of your appointment.
We encourage customers to be cautious when searching for passport information online. Some websites may appear to be official government pages but are not. For accurate and secure information, we recommend using the official travel.state.gov site, in addition to our township website. Current fees can be found here: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/how-apply/fees.html. The township also offers photo services for $14 per person.
Please call us at 616-895-6295 with any questions. We are happy to help!

Why do I need to bring two checks? Can I just write one for the total amount?
No, you’ll need to bring two separate checks. The U.S. Department of State only accepts checks for passport processing fees, while Allendale Charter Township requires a separate check for the execution fee and any photo services. Each check must be made out to the appropriate recipient.
Is it cheaper to get a passport somewhere else?
No, passport fees are set by the U.S. Department of State and are the same at all passport acceptance facilities, regardless of location (excluding optional services like photographs). For full details, please see Allendale Charter Township’s Fee Schedule and the U.S. Passport Fees page.
Can I bring photocopies of my documents?
No, you must bring original documents to your passport appointment so they can be properly verified. If photocopies are required, they must be made by the passport acceptance agent during your appointment.
Can I complete my DS-11 application form during the appointment?
No, the DS-11 form must be completed before your appointment. This allows the passport agent enough time to review your application, answer any questions, complete necessary forms, and prepare your documents for mailing.
Can I use a Certificate of Live Birth instead of a Birth Certificate?
No, a Certificate of Live Birth is not the same as an official birth certificate. It does not include all the information required by the U.S. Department of State for passport applications.
Can you guarantee when I’ll receive my passport?
No, Allendale Charter Township cannot guarantee passport return times, as all processing is handled by the U.S. Department of State. For the most current processing estimates, please view the the U.S Department of State website.
Does Allendale Charter Township track my passport?
Allendale Charter Township tracks your passport application until it is delivered to the acceptance facility. After that point, the U.S. Department of State takes over and provides tracking information for the status of your passport.
