If you are not already experienced, we pay for the training so that you can become a certified firefighter and Medical First Responder in the State of Michigan. PAID-ON-CALL FIREFIGHTER
The starting pay rate for a Paid-On-Call Firefighter Trainee is $18.36 per hour.

Authority:
The individual will work under the supervision of the highest-ranking command officer or senior firefighter, ultimately reporting up to the Fire Chief. In the absence of a command officer, the individual will work in conjunction with other firefighters, or will assume command as the most senior firefighter. May assist to coordinate, instruct, or supervise the work of other firefighters, new recruits, or other department personnel, as assigned.
General Purpose:
To protect life and property by performing firefighting, emergency medical services, hazardous materials, and fire prevention duties. Maintains fire equipment, apparatus, and facilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Performs firefighting activities including driving fire apparatus, operating pumps and related equipment, laying hose, and performing fire containment, extinguishment and overhaul tasks.
• Performs emergency medical service activities including administering first aid and providing other medical assistance as required.
• Participates in training, attends classes in firefighting, emergency medical, hazardous materials, and related subjects Operates radios and other communications equipment.
• Carries out duties in conformance with Federal, State, County, City and Township laws and ordinances Maintains fire equipment, apparatus and facilities.
• Performs minor repairs to departmental equipment.
• Performs general maintenance work in the upkeep of fire facilities and equipment.
• Assists in developing plans for special assignments such as emergency preparedness, hazardous communications, training programs, firefighting, hazardous materials, and emergency aid activities.
• Presents programs to the community on safety, medical, and fire prevention topics Performs salvage operations.
REQUIRED SKILLS / ABILITIES:
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to follow safety procedures to ensure safe working environment.
• No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal histories within the past seven years.
• Ability to meet departmental physical standards by passing a pre-employment physical and drug screen Successfully complete the training identified below, and receive a positive evaluation from both the Field Training Officer and Fire Chief.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be 18 years or older at time of employment and have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Must possess, or able obtain by time of hire, a valid State of Michigan driver’s license without record of suspension or revocation in any state.

SUMMARY:

Allendale Charter Township is hiring a part-time Substitute Library Page and Circulation Assistant for their Allendale, MI library. This position will report to the Library Director. Flexibility is desired to accommodate the hours the library is open to the public. This position will primarily work varied hours and openness to come in when called is desired.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Projects a positive and pleasant attitude to the public and cooperates and maintains an effective relationship with other staff members as part of a team.

· Shelves library materials accurately and shelf-reads as needed.

· Gathers requested items.

· Assists with staff checking materials for damage and removing them from shelves as required.

· Checks library materials in and out at the circulation desk, collects fines through the use of the integrated library system and cash register by cash, credit card or check.

· Performs routine library computer functions.

· Operates a variety of office and library equipment and assists patrons in using such equipment.

· Performs routine book maintenance and processing.

· Answers telephones, provides routine information or refers and transfers calls.

· Handles complaints in a friendly and professional manner.

· Carries out interlibrary loan procedures for incoming and outgoing library materials.

· Facilitates patron library card registration and maintains records as needed.

· Stays informed on library services, materials, and programming.

· Adheres to library policies and procedures.

· Performs related work as required.

REQUIRED SKILLS / ABILITIES:

The ideal candidate must be able to interact positively and professionally with all patrons who access the library. The candidate must also work efficiently, pay close attention to detail, have the ability to read and write in English, the skills to use a computer and learn programs, and work well individually and as part of a team. The ability to be proficient in a library environment is not a requirement for this position, but the eagerness to learn is desired.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

High school diploma or GED is desired, or work towards high school diploma or GED required.

Experience:

One (1) year of customer service desired. Some college experience preferred.

Must be willing to work flexible hours.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

No supervisory responsibilities.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Must be able to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations, including, but not limited to, visual and/or audio logical appliances and devices to increase mobility.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Typical sitting/standing for the duration of shifts while using computers; frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds.
